Remote Learning
Dauntsey Academy Primary School Remote Learning Information
This page aims to provide clarity and transparency for pupils and parents/carers regarding what to expect from remote education when national or local restrictions require individuals, year group bubbles, or the whole school to remain at home. This guidance does not apply to children of critical workers or vulnerable children attending school during these periods.
Our Commitment to Remote Learning
We strive for 100% engagement in learning, whether children are at home, attending school part-time, or present full-time. To achieve this, we employ a variety of strategies to ensure all pupils can continue their education effectively.
The Remote Curriculum
A pupil’s first one or two days of remote learning may differ from our standard approach as we take necessary actions to transition to longer-term remote or blended teaching.
Blended learning enables children to continue their education even when they or school staff need to isolate. This approach ensures families can isolate when necessary while pupils remain engaged in their learning.
Where possible and appropriate, the same curriculum taught in school will be provided at home. Some activities may be adapted to suit the home environment while still meeting the same learning objectives.
For children with additional needs, we offer tailored resources and an adapted curriculum suited to their individual requirements. This may involve online or offline learning support.
Remote Learning Scenarios
-
Individual Isolation: Learning will be provided via Seesaw. Physical learning packs will be delivered to support engagement.
-
Partial Closure (e.g., year group bubble closure): Daily learning will be provided online and resource packs available for collection.
-
Full School Closure: Daily live learning will be implemented across all year groups. Bespoke resource packs will be available for collection.
Learning will be available within 24 hours of notification of closure or isolation.

Accessing Remote Learning
Our primary platform for remote learning is Seesaw. This allows us to assign and receive completed work.
Live Sessions:
-
Children from Reception to Year 6 attend a 30-minute live session daily via Zoom.
-
Teachers and TAs use familiar classroom strategies to maintain consistency.
Supporting Families Without Internet or Devices
We recognize that not all pupils have reliable internet or suitable devices at home. Based on school surveys and past experiences, we have identified families needing support and provide:
-
Loaned Chromebooks and iPads (from DfE, Wiltshire Council, Collaborative Schools Ltd, and school stock).
-
Data-only SIM cards to create mobile hotspots for internet access.
-
Contact-free collection or home delivery of devices/resources.
-
School attendance for children unable to work remotely.
Our Remote Learning Approach
We use a combination of strategies to facilitate effective remote and blended learning:
-
Recorded teaching, including teacher-made audio/video resources and external materials (e.g., White Rose Maths, Oak National Academy, Times Table Rockstars).
-
Physical resource packs, including books, stationery, reading materials, and curriculum tools tailored to each child's needs.
-
Commercial educational websites (e.g., Times Table Rock Stars) to reinforce learning.
Supporting Children with Additional Needs
Where children require extra support, their curriculum and resources will be adapted to meet their specific needs. This may include bespoke learning packs, online interventions, or modified digital resources.
For further support, please contact the school office. We are committed to ensuring all children continue to learn effectively, regardless of their circumstances.
