Nursery & Preschool Transition
We pride ourselves on the focus we put on a careful and considered transition between nursery and preschool and into DAPS. We appreciate it's a big change for both the pupils and their parents & carers and we do our best to welcome you into our school as smoothly as possible.
We have a great relationship with all our neighbouring nurseries and pre-schools and all work together to ensure a smooth transition for the pupils.
Coming to have a look around
We welcome all parents & carers to come and look around our school whether you have a school starter, are new to the area or are considering moving your pupils to DAPS. You are welcome to do visit anytime, simply call us on 01380 813373 to organise a time.
We also run open days every Thursday during November and you can find out more information in our EYFS prospectus >>
Starting at DAPS
For pupils starting with us in EYFS and transitioning from Nursery and Pre-schools, we host lots of events to give both you and your child the opportunity to familiarise yourself with our school.
Example events we organise for our school starters:
- Teacher and Headteachers visits and story time within the nursery & pre-school setting
- In class induction sessions with the children (July)
- Parents information evening (July)
- School Starters tea party (July)
- Summer School play sessions (August)
- Teacher home visits (September)
We have a great relationship with all our neighbouring nurseries and pre-schools and all work together to ensure a smooth transition for the pupils.
Lavington Pre-School
We are extremely privileged to share our site with Lavington Pre-School and the pupils who attend the Pre-School are literally 'just over the fence' to the children in the DAPS EYFS class.
Lavington Pre-School provides care and education for children aged 2 to 5 in a friendly rural setting. Our purpose-built premises offer well-equipped, stimulating classroom spaces, with free-flow outdoor play in a secure garden. Nestled on the edge of Salisbury Plain, we have fantastic views and there is plenty of space for children to explore.
The pre-school has strong links to the primary school and the children benefit from visits from the EYFS teacher, linked assemblies and joining in school events, not to mention the wonderful landscaped grounds.
