What will your child need?

Reading book |
Children need to have their reading book in school every day and Boom Reader will be checked on a Monday morning. |

PE kit | Children will have sports coaches from Dauntsey’s School on a Tuesday morning and a class teacher session on a Thursday afternoon. Please can the children wear their PE kit to school on these days and remember a PE hoody and tracksuit trousers or leggings for colder weather days. | |||||
Forest School kit |
Children will need appropriate outdoor clothing for forest school and outdoor art sessions in terms 1 – 5. |

CGP Homework books |
Children will be set home learning on a Friday from the CGP homework books. These needs to be returned to school on Wednesdays each week for marking in class. |

Water Bottles | Children should only have water in their bottles – no juice, squash or fizzy. Water bottles should be taken home daily to be washed out and re-filled. | |||||
Mid-morning snack | Morning snack should be fresh or dried fruit/vegetables only please – no fruit winders etc. |
Reading & Home Learning
Children should be reading five times a week at home to support their reading progression. This will also boost their self-esteem and love of reading. We will be checking Boom Reader on a Monday morning, but they need to bring their reading books into school every day.
Home learning set from the CGP homework books will include a reading, maths and spelling, punctuation and grammar task. These tasks should take no more than an hour in total.

Seesaw |
Please make sure you are signed up to Seesaw. If you are not yet signed up, please contact the school office. We use Seesaw as a communication tool and digital portfolio that allows you to have a personalised window into your child’s time at school. The class teacher and your child can document any learning so that it can be shared, supported and celebrated. |
Permissions | Please ensure you have informed the Admin team if you do not wish your child to appear in photographs on our website or one our school Facebook page. |

Learning in Oak class
Oak Class Learning Journey - Term 1
This year, we are beginning our exciting journey into the new CUSP curriculum. This term, we will complete the following units:
Science—What are the effects and consequences of changing circuit components and batteries?
History—How did conflict affect the local area in World War II? Pupils will explore aerial warfare and local airbases involved in the war.
Art & Design—Drawing. Pupils will apply their knowledge of techniques to draw in detail, using scale and proportion to modify their artwork, in order to produce portraits.
Design & Technology—Street Food. Pupils will study and cook food from different cultures.
Oak Class Learning Journey - Term 2
In Term 2, we will be learning about mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
In Art, we will be looking at the artist Frida Kahlo and drawing self portraits, learning how to draw the proportions of a face.
In DT, we are learning to cook 'street food' which is a healthy snack. We will learn how to make tortillas, pitta and hummus and samosas. Some of these will be cooked on an open fire in forest school.
