Dauntsey Academy Primary School

History

At Dauntsey Academy Primary School, the history curriculum draws from and makes full use of the local area, enabling pupils to develop a deep understanding of the rich history of their locality. Pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world to build respect, appreciation, and pride in their country.

Pupils will be curious about the past and acquire a chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people. Pupils will ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. Pupils will understand the complexity of people’s lives, including those of the present, the process of change, the diversity of societies and beliefs, whilst celebrating these differences.
