What will your child need?

Reading book

Children need to have their reading book in school every day and reading records will be checked on a Monday morning.

PE kit Children will have sports coaches from PH Sports on a Friday morning and a class teacher session on a Thursday.  Please can the children wear their PE kit to school on these days and remember a PE hoody and tracksuit trousers or leggings for colder weather days. 
Forest School kit

Children will need appropriate outdoor clothing for forest school which covers their arms and legs (Terms 1, 3 and 5).

Water Bottles Children should only have water in their bottles – no juice, squash or fizzy. Water bottles should be taken home daily to be washed out and re-filled.
Mid-morning snack Morning snack should be fresh or dried fruit/vegetables only please – no fruit winders etc.

Reading & Home Learning

Children should be reading five times a week at home to support their reading progression. This will also boost their self-esteem and love of reading. We will be checking off their reading records on a Monday morning, but they need to bring their reading books and home academy books into school every day.

Communication & permissions


Please make sure you are signed up to Seesaw. If you are not yet signed up, please contact the school office. We use Seesaw as a communication tool and digital portfolio that allows you to have a personalised window into your child’s time at school. The class teacher and your child can document any learning so that it can be shared, supported and celebrated.

Permissions Please ensure you have informed the Admin team if you do not wish your child to appear in photographs on our website or one our school Facebook page.

Hazel Class Learning Journey - Term 1

In Term 1, we will be learning about the ancient civilization of indigenous people from South America called ‘The Maya’. We will be learning about their culture, history, language and whattheir legacy is in the world today.

We will also be learning about how mountains are formed and what it would be like to live on a mountain.

Hazel Class Learning Journey - Term 2

In Term 2, we will be studying the Water Cycle and states of matter. The children will be finding out about how water can exist in three different states and what needs to happen within this process.

The children will also be finding out about Warburton’s the company and their legacy. They will also design and evaluate their own bread product.

Hazel Class Learning Journey - Term 3

During Term 3, we will be investigating how sounds are made and how they can be changed. The children will become experts in  scientific discovery and in asking questions.

We will also be learning about who William Morris was,  We will explore the Arts and Crafts Movement through practical activities, complete some still-life sketches of the objects that provided the inspiration for Morris's designs, explore printing presses, and much more!
