Term 3 - Switched On!

Control systems are all around us, from our mobile phones and MP3 players to computers, consoles and televisions.  In fact there are so many control systems in the world, we may not even realise how much we take them for granted.  However, as technology develops and control systems become more intelligent, we have to ask ourselves what our society will be like in 50 or 100 years time.

This is the BIG IDEA for our current IPC unit, 'Switched On'.

We started this unit with a 'Robot Olympics' using Beebots.  The Beebots were programmed by Rowan Class to compete in activities which included: Skittles, Slalom, Perfect Parking and Target.

In Forest School we have been focussing on the personal goal of cooperation.  Rowan Class came face to face with a giant spider's web which they had to navigate their way though in pairs.  One of the children had their eyes closed so they relied heavily on their partner to guide them through.  This activity was a real test of our communication and cooperation skills.  As the term progresses we will continue to challenge ourselves in this way.  Keep checking back for more photographs.
