Welcome to the Governing Body
The Governing Body is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality of education. Together with the head teacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies.
Governors have three main strategic functions:
The Governing Body at DAPS is currently comprised of 15 Governors.
The Governing Body meets between 5 and 6 times during the academic year. Standing items at each meeting are the head teacher's report and reports from each of the committees:
Various smaller working groups are set up as the need arises to deal with other issues.
If you would like to contact the Governing Body please email firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message at the School Office. The minutes of Governing Body meetings are available to read upon request at Reception.
This document is published by the National Governor Association and details the roles and responsibilities of School Governors. Please see document in' Other Useful Information' below.
The strategic function of the Governing Body means that we aren't involved in the day to day running of the school. However, we recognise it is crucially important that we have a presence and that the staff, children and parents/carers know who we are. We achieve this is various ways;
As with any member of staff we receive training on safeguarding and the Prevent Duty. Records of our training are held in the School Office. Our named Governor for Safeguarding is Mrs L Evans.
Governors bring their own professional experience with them to contribute to the strategic development of the School. We link ourselves to staff members who are leading on an area or topic within the School Development Plan. We contact this staff member several times throughout the year, our aim is to be a critical friend.
We are required to publish the attendance data for Governing Body meetings. We do this by academic year. Please see below for attendance documents.
We currently have vacancies on our Governing Body. Please do contact email@example.com if you are interested and we may be able to hold your information. Please read the two documents below in 'Other Useful Information'. Many thanks for your interest.
This document explains the code of Conduct to which all Governors must work to, and gives information on the 7 responsibilities of being in public office.
